By commissioning Marposs Brankamp process control systems on more than 50 cold-forming machines, we have standardised our practice focused on press and die protection, prevention of nonconforming parts, and improved traceability. The system is designed to secure repeatable production across all stations.
Brankamp reads force/tonnage signals at high sampling rates and generates a characteristic force–time curve for every stroke. Manufacturing processes are monitored using dynamic tolerance windows around this curve. Deviations such as die/punch wear, material variation, wrong feeding or punch breakage are detected very quickly; the press is brought to a safe stop or the defective part is routed out of the system via an automatic reject chute.
The goal is not only protection but also shorter setup times. Through permission levels, the right intervention is carried out by authorised personnel and recorded. With trend monitoring, station-based wear tracking and alarm history, planned tool changes become more predictable and unplanned stoppages are reduced. The system can be integrated into production tracking and quality reporting through data output, while events and statistics are stored by lot and operator.
